1990 jeep cherokee shifting problems
ok im new to the cherokees ive always had cjs but anyway my cherokee will not shift into 2nd till 4500 rpms. ive read in the forums of replacing the TPS and vaccum modulator, and the tranmission controler if you can please help me find locate these things and where should i start looking.
Also is there a way to unplug the dome courtsey lights they are staying on sometimes when i make sure all the doors are closed and toasting all my batteries i put on it. also at speed there is a god awful shake in the front end i noticed that the front passenger u joint is shot could that be the culpret and if so how hard is it to replace it.
if yall could give me some step by step instuctions on all this that would be great and some pics of where to locate these thing would be amazing
by the way its a 1990 cherokee 4 door with a 4.0

The throttle position sensor is located on the throttle body. It should be tested. If it fails, replace it; they are only about $40. A new one would require ADJUSTMENT as well.
Would be a good idea for you to buy a repair manual for this procedure, and for future repairs. Best money you can spend. Factory service manuals are best, then Chiltons. Haynes are the bottom of the totem pole for manuals.
