sad to hear this.
agreed on this part. my ford forum is IB owned and they keep sneaking more and more ads in... even as a paid member. there really seems to be no way of escaping them anymore. hopefully they won't bastardize this site, which would be a real shame. i'll be hoping for the best.

I too am hoping there is little changed. Out of all the forums I'm on, this one is by far the best, mainly due to how it's overseen by the mods and the family friendly community. I'd hate to see that change. I understand if some more ads get brought in, but I would hope they'd at least limit them for paying members. But, with new owners comes a new vision of what they where they want the forum to go, so we'll just have to see what happens (as long as it doesn't become Pirate).
Jon and Nathan - thank you for being the great owners you were! The forum reflects the vision you had for it, and IMO, it was a good one. A job well done and best of luck to both of you!

Hope he doesnt mind the copy and paste but i see he hasnt seen this thread yet for you guys so heres what his response to my questions that we have been talking about here... he has been prompt on any questions and thoughts we have so far... and some of the things he listed seem like they would be kinda cool and i like the idea of helping vendors out more here as for right now we have nothing for them but a section... id rather they make more money there then to make more ads and as of right now not much is gonna change when it comes to that...
"I'm not 100% certain on what ad changes we will make, but for logged in users I honestly wouldn't anticipate there being any more ads. We may change the layout of some. For example, the 300x250 unit at the bottom of threads, will likely become a 728x90 unit. We typically do present more ads to users who are not registered, or logged in, but once you login, the experience will not differ from what it is today. That being said, I will be sure to communicate with all of you, in advance of any ad unit changes, so that you'll know what's coming, and have a chance to offer your feedback to me from the community's perspective. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
In terms of changes you could see, or face, other than moving the site onto our hardware, and adding a few things for our vendors like a vendor directory, and vendor keyword alerts, there shouldn't need to be many others. We have a number of vBulletin products & add ons that we use across our network of sites, but none of them are really mandatory, but some are pretty neat. We have a feature called vBLive, which lets users sit on one page, and get a constant stream of new posts on the site, they can configure it to show only specific forums and stuff too. It just requires a link to be added to the navigation. We've got a much improved photo gallery viewer, that lets you share images, rate them, and you can view by popular, recently rated, and member only galleries. We have a garage product that lets you add your vehicles, and details and photos about each one to share with people within the community. These are all things which we can discuss before adding, and you can even test drive them on other sites if you like.
In regards to permissions, and access, I honestly believe that you'll find it to be quicker, and easier when us at the helm. I can be reached in any number of ways, and we can also provide you with names/contact info for other members of our IB team, depending on the nature of your requests
Travis, I certainly recognize, and appreciate the passion from which you speak. I want to let you know that I'm a car guy, who has grown up on forums over the past 12 or 13 yrs. I do know what community is, and I have a pretty good sense for what we as a company need to do, in order to make sure the ones in our family continue to grow and be prosperous. Thanks for giving us a shot, I truly believe we won't let you down.
cheers,

i hate the new IB album/gallery feature. i gave up looking at other users albums because of it. every pic you click on loads a new ad and a new photo stream. my internet connection isn't lightning fast and so at times it makes it damn near impossible to look at pics. i'm also a little peeved that they added the ads to the gallery section for paid members. i really, really, really hope they don't switch over to that damn viewer here.
