Default Red Rock Canyon CA Cudahy Camp Overlook

Trip this past weekend in Red Rock Canyon. This is off Last Chance Canyon just as you pass Camp Cudahy. I was actually trying to find my way to the camp to climb this and ended up going down it in the process. Went back up it later, which was not as intimidating as coming down it. Hopefully will be going out this weekend with disconnected sway bars although my XJ has performed great the way it is. This is also my first ride with the stock fender flares attached. Previous owner did the front and rear roll / trim but I was able to make it work and fit back in the stock position.

Not sure if you know where the Red Cliffs are (see pic)? There is a big dirt parking lot there. That is really the first you see of Red Rock when you enter it coming from Mojave direction. Anyway as you start seeing the cliffs in this picture and go over a little overpass you can turn right off the freeway and then go left to the cliffs pictured or right back towards the overpass. That will circle around back behind the cliffs into a whole new world. There are several ways to get in but that is the way I take most often. Welcome to join us.

Here is a link to the route I recorded that day. Many more trails than what I took.

That's amazing!! I know exactly where the parking area you're talking about is!! I wish I could right now but my XJ is not ready for off roading. But I might be going up to mammoth in the next few months hopefully and I might stay in mammoth for the summer so I'll be sure to let you guys know!! On a tight budget so I can't do any major mods just yet. Is stock ride height minus the sway bar going to be ok?

When I went through first time in my jeep it was stock height and tires with sway bars. I was running basically street tires and it did great. I just took it slow.. and I still do. I did a rear no slip locker on mine after the first trip. I recommend that as first mod. Also if you get to a spot your not sure of you just don't do it and find another way. Slow and steady. No need to push or rush since the whole point is to have fun and breaking something is no fun.

Well it's happening! This weekend I'm off to Red Rock Canyon at 5 am Saturday morning for a one night camping trip with my mother. If anyone wants to meet out there let me know! I'll be hitting the lighter trailed as my jeep is still stock but I have done a lot of fixes since the last post.
